Trustees required for Womenzone Community Centre

Could you help drive our charity forward and make a difference in the lives of women facing multiple disadvantages?

Womenzone Community Centre-CIO (WZCC) is a small well established charity set up in 2002. Our centre is based in Bradford 3, which is an area of high deprivation and social and economic disadvantage.  Our objective is to work with women and families who suffer from multiple disadvantages and challenges, including poverty, isolation, poor mental and physical health.  The centre provides a safe space and activities to help them learn skills and enjoy new experience. Through our programmes and projects, we empower women to improve their health and wellbeing

We are looking to recruit 4 new Trustees to join our Board, including someone who can take up the position of Treasurer.  We need committed individuals, who can share their time, experience and skills to make a difference to our users. We want to encourage a diverse and representative Board and would welcome people from the public, private as well as voluntary sectors.  In particular, we are looking for people with skills and experience from the following background;

Accounting and finance; Law, HR, IT, Marketing and Communications, Health and Wellbeing.

Your role as a Trustee is to work with other Trustees as part of a team, providing leadership, strategic direction and collective responsibility for robust governance to ensure the charity is running effectively and efficiently and maintains financial stability. All Trustees are volunteers and the positions are unremunerated.  The role requires a commitment of approximately 5 hours a month reading papers and attending Board meetings as well some time responding to emails between Board meetings.

This is an exciting and challenging time for us as we move towards making plans to ensure financial stability and a high standard of performance for the organisation.  As a trustee you will have the capability to shape this process.  In return, you help make a difference to women’s lives in the community we serve.
